General Information
Certification
of Small Items, is an online course designed to clarify the requirements for
certification and marking of small items and how to apply the small product
exclusions listed in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section
III, Rules for Construction of Nuclear Facility Components
. This course reviews ASME Code requirements for small items and small
products as specified for Class 1 components (NB), other classes of material
(NX), along with the general requirements specified in NCA-3800. Learning
Outcomes After completing this course, students will be able to:
Recognize the difference between small items [NX-2130,
NX-2150, NCA-4256.3(b), NCA-3862(g) and NCA-3812] and small products
[NX-2610(b) and (c) and NCA-3812]. Associate material exemptions and exceptions
used relating to small items and small products. Know
when a Certificate of Compliance can be supplied
in lieu of a CMTR. Differentiate the identification, markings, and
material control requirements for small items and small products. Recall
and describe the additional Quality Assurance Program requirements for control
of small products. Determine
the Code requirements associated with a small item and small
valve.
