Inspection
and Test, is an online course designed to identify applicable
ASME Code requirements concerning the responsibilities and duties of the Manufacturer
and the Authorized Inspector when applying hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure
testing.For Authorized Inspectors (AIs) and Authorized Inspector Supervisors
(AISs) the principal responsibilities are to understand ASME Code rules and
to verify compliance during construction of Code items.
Learning
Outcomes
After completing this course,
students will be able to:
Explain the
responsibilities and duties of the Manufacturer and Authorized
Inspector.
Apply specific code
requirements, including time of pressure test and verifying the test and process (procedure) are conducted at the
correct pressure.
Verify the lcoation of the test gage(s) and assure proper
adjustments were made to account for any static head pressure
conditions.
Determine what pressure gage to use for the test.
Perform external visual inspections of all joints and connections
at reduced pressure.
Perform internal visual inspections.
Verify stamping/nameplate attachment.
Review the final documentation package and data
reports.
Discuss the requirements unique to a pneumatic test versus a
hydrostatic test.

Each student is required to have access to a printer from
their computer for certain sessions.
Additionally,
reference is made to ASME Section VIII, Div.1 and National Board RCI-1, NB-263
throughout this course, however this Code is not required to complete this
course.
Criteria
for Successful Completion
As a minimum, for a
National Board Certificate of Completion to be issued, students must:
