Corrosion in Pressure-Retaining Items
is
designed to provide an Inservice Inspector with
the general knowledge of what corrosion is, the various types of corrosion, and
which corrosion types are encountered in certain situations. NBIC Part 2,
Section 3 and other industry
sources are used to provide an overview of corrosion
and its effects. In addition, there is a review
of the many ways to control and avoid corrosion.

Outcomes
After completing this course, students will be able to:
State the three factors for classifying corrosion
according to
NBIC Part 2, Section 3.
Identify the various corrosion types, macroscopic and
microscopic, found in pressure-retaining items (PRI) causing deterioration.
Describe the many ways
to control and avoid corrosion.
