Certified
Individual: Pressure Relief Valves ASME Section
VIII, is an online course designed for Manufacturers and Assemblers of pressure relief
valves when preparing their employees for designation as Certified
Individuals. The focus is on the Certified Individual's responsibilities,
duties, and ASME Code requirements applicable to the ASME Certification Mark
involving the UV designator .
The knowledge a Certified Individual needs to perform his/her responsibilities
varies depending upon the type of pressure relief device being manufactured,
and whether the organization is functioning as a Manufacturer
or Assembler. This course provides activity assessments specific
to device type (pressure relief valve or non-reclosing device) as well as the
service for which the device is being manufactured (boiler, heating boiler,
hot water heater, or pressure vessel).
This course is consists of modules covering scope, selection, material requirements,
capacity certification, manufacturing requirements, assembler requirements,
and marking and certification. The last module provides a final assessment consisting of
a 20 question multiple-choice assessment. A minimum score of 70%
is required to pass the assessment and the course.

the main duties of a Certified Individual.
Locate
key information in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code that
relates to pressure relief valves.
Describe the
purpose of the various ASME forms related to pressure relief valves
and determine when they should be used
