National Board Inspection Code, Part 4, Pressure Relief Devicesis designed to provide students with a broader understanding of the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC), Part 4. Once completed, students will have a fundamental understanding of pressure relief devices and the requirements for their installation, inspection, and repair so that they function in accordance with the original code of construction.

Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, students will be able to:  

  • Apply proper inspection techniques for the installation of pressure relief devices for boilers, pressure vessels, piping, and other pressure-retiaing items for safe and satisfactory operation.
  • Identify Inspector responsibilities and complete documentation when providing inservice inspection of a pressure relief device protecting a pressure-retaining item.
  • Have a working background on the application of the National Board VR Valve Repair program.

Criteria for Successful Completion
