Synopsis: This course steps learners through what boiler blowoff is and why it is performed. The difference between blowoff and blowdown and other related terminology begins the training, followed by more detailed information on how surface blowdown and bottom blowoff are performed, and the components used to perform these procedures, such as valves, piping, and skimmers.

Next learners are introduced to ASME BPV Code and NBIC requirements for blowdown and blowoff systems, valves and piping. The National Board publication NB-27, Guide to Blowoff Vessels is reviewed, specifically looking at blowoff tanks and separators. The course concludes with learning about blowoff tank sizing and vent design.
