Inspector Duties: Design Documents, is an online course designed to provide an overview of an Authorized Nuclear Inspector's duties per ASME Section III, QAI-1, and RCI-1, as well as the related duties of the Supervisor. Specific responsibilities and duties associated with design documents, such as Design Specifications and Design Reports, are also reviewed in depth, along with documentation requirements related to bound diary entries

Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, students will be able to:  

  • Recognize and recall Authorized Nuclear Inspector (ANI) and Supervisor (ANIS) duties found in ASME Section III, NCA-5000, QAI-1, and NB-263, RCI-1.
  • Define construction terms related to the design of nuclear power plants.
  • Identify, list, and describe the key attributes of design input and output documents necessary for the ANI to complete their required duties.
  • Ask more effective questions during your monitoring and/or auditing activities.

Each student is required to have the following materials (currently mandated edition):

  • ASME Section III, Subsection NCA, Rules for Construction of Nuclear Facility Components
  • ASME QAI-1
  • NB-263, RCI-1, Rules for Commissioned Inspectors

Criteria for Successful Completion
As a minimum, for a National Board Certificate of Completion to be issued, students must:
