Fabrication: General and Welded, is an online course designed to provide knowledge to the new construction inspector to aid in identifying applicable ASME Code requirements. For the Authorized Inspector (AI) and Authorized Inspector Supervisor (AIS), the principal responsibilities are to understand ASME Code rules and to verify compliance during construction of pressure vessels. This course includes discussion points that the AI and AIS may find useful when performing these inspection activities.

Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, students will be able to:  

  • Explain ASME Code requirements for general and welded fabrication that are used by vessel manufacturers.
  • Summarize how ASME Code requirements guide inspector involvement during fabrication.

Reference Materials
Although not required, each student may find it helpful to have the following materials (currently mandated edition):

  • ASME Section VIII, Div. 1,Rules for Construction of Pressure Vessels

Criteria for Successful Completion
As a minimum, for a National Board Certificate of Completion to be issued, students must:
