General Information
Liquid Penetrant Examination
Basics is an online course in
which students learn what
liquid penetrant (PT) examination is, how it works, and which materials can and cannot be examined using this
process. Students are also presented with the requirements found
in the ASME BPV Codes of Construction regarding PT examination, including
compentency and qualification of personnel, acceptance standards, repair standards, and
terminology. Students are then walked through the detailed steps found in ASME's
Section V for performing PT examination: surface pentration, penetrant
application, excell penetrant removal, developer application,
interpretation/evaluation of results, and post-examination cleaning.
Documentation of examination results and how to ensure your PT site is safe are
also reviewed. Learning
