Virtual Classroom Requirements

All students enrolled in National Board virtual training classes will need to verify they are able to meet the requirements for attending as listed below.

The time zone for National Board training is EASTERN.

Computer Requirements for Attendance
  1. A computer with high-speed, reliable internet access. Training should not be attended on a smart phone!
  2. Training is conducted using Zoom. Students can download the free Zoom client at https://zoom.us/download. This should be completed prior to the start of class to ensure the software is working properly, including audio and video.
  3. All students are required to have their cameras ON for the entirety of the class. Attendance is required which means we must see each student just as if you were in physically in a classroom.
  4. Cameras must be on the student and not aimed at the ceiling!
  5. Virtual backgrounds are acceptable provided they are not distracting or offensive in any way.
  6. Students are expected to interact with the instructors and/or other students at times and must have audio capability.
  7. Students not meeting these requirements will be removed from class and marked absent -- not meeting the attendance requirement will result in being ineligible to sit for the examination.

NOTE: Students should not use a smart phone to attend virtual training!

  ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING VIRTUAL CLASSES

Receipt of Classroom Material
  • Students are asked to confirm their shipping (home) address, telephone number, and email when the class confirmation email is sent (six weeks out from the start of class). ALL are REQUIRED for shipping materials and failure to confirm may result in not receiving class materials.
  • Training material is shipped approximately three weeks prior to the start of the class.
  • Once materials are shipped, we are not able to redirect, resend, or email. Students are responsible for retrieving material from the original shipping address once delivery is confirmed.
  • IF additional shipping paperwork or fees are required for delivery, the student may be responsible.

Examinations
Student attending virtual classes are given detailed information on how to take any associated examination during the Exam Review session on the class agenda. Since attendance is required for most classes, students will not be able to schedule an exam until training has been completed.

Exams may be administered at:

  • participating National Board Member Jurisdictions on the first Wednesday of every March, June, September, and December
  • Prometric, our partner for on-demand computer-based examinations (Visit the Exam Registration page for more information.)
  • the National Board Training Center in Columbus, Ohio (limited capacity)

NOTE: IT IS PROHIBITED to record (audio or video) any portion of any session or take pictures of the screen.
