Online Training Presentation Styles

NB online training courses are now tagged with one of three types of "presentation styles". Each style offers a different method of delivering course material--all geared toward adult learning.

1. The DOCUMENTARY style provides the learner all the technical information necessary to complete the course and answer the Knowledge Check questions.

   The course material may be written in a narrative, procedural, or scenario format. This style is useful for learners of "new" topics or as a refresher for material that has not been reviewed by the learner in a period of time.

2. The EVALUATION style provides the learner a framework, or a basic scenario, throughout the course. This style is not designed to fully answer all Knowledge Check questions but to provide a baseline framework that is relevant to field experiences.

   The framework material may be written in a narrative or scenario format, and allows the learner to "test" their existing knowledge of a topic while reinforcing their learning of new material through Knowledge Check feedback.

3. The SUMMARY/SYNOPSIS style provides the learner a summary, or synopsis, of the specific technical elements necessary to answer Knowledge Checks throughout the course. This style describes the main topical information and explains interrelationships in the course material, prior to being asked questions.

   The summary material may be written in a narrative, procedural, or scenario format. This style is designed to provide the learner with the necessary information to analyze and develop an answer, while not repeating it word-for-word.
